Prior to his current role as Director of Systems Engineering Education at the University of Maryland, Dr. MacCarthy spent twenty eight years in a variety of systems engineering leadership roles developing and evaluating large, complex systems for industry, government, and a Federally Funded Research and Development Center. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Systems Engineering at University of Maryland, Baltimore County and five years as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Muhlenberg College. Dr. MacCarthy holds a B.A. in Physics from Carleton College, a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Notre Dame, and an M.S. in Systems Engineering from George Mason University.
