National Service Organization Alumni Panel

National service has received renewed attention in recent years, fueled in part by a growing interest in meeting shared challenges through civic action. Organizations like the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps embody values of service and citizenship; address critical local, national, and global needs; and provide a launching pad for careers in public policy, non-profit work, and beyond.

On June 24, the Eisenhower Institute will host a panel featuring Gettysburg College alumni who have served in a variety of roles at national service organizations to discuss their experience and advice for interested students.

  • Piper O’Keefe ’17—Sierra Leone Volunteer Leader, Peace Corps
  • Jeffrey Lauck ’18—Economic Empowerment Team, AmeriCorps, and Green Iowa, AmeriCorps
  • Riccardo Purita ’13—City Year Milwaukee and Pennsylvania Campus Compact, AmeriCorps VISTA
  • Liz Steinhour ’15—Student Conservation Association at Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter, AmeriCorps
