Event Title: Pairing Courses Across DisciplinesOrganization: JOHNSON CTR FOR CREATIVE TEACHINGPairing Courses Across Disciplines

12:00-1:00 pm
102 W. Water St., (OME)

Last semester, colleagues teaching in the First Year Seminar program had the opportunity to pair their seminars with support from a grant from the Mellon Foundation aimed at strengthening student interest in the humanities. Four faculty in the Humanities division paired with faulty in the Social Sciences and an administrator who teaches regularly in the FYS program. Each pair developed at least one common learning out-come and designed ways for the two sets of students to interact periodically over the course of the semester. Funding remains to support seminar pairs for the Fall 2020 semester. Henning Wrage (German Studies), Eric Remy (IT), Joanne Myers (English), Kathy Cain (Psychology), and Brendan Cushing-Daniels (Economics) will discuss what it was like to be part of a pair and reflect on the experience.
