Glenn Nye served as a U.S. diplomat with the State Department and USAID in the Balkans, Southeast Asia, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. He was recognized with a Superior Honor Award for brokering the release of an American held hostage by insurgents in Macedonia. After leaving the foreign service, he successfully ran for Congress from Virginia's second district, becoming part of the Blue Dog coalition in the House of Representatives.
