Gettysburg Children's Choir Presents: Be the Change

We were saddened to learn that one of our favorite annual events, the MLK Celebration at Gettysburg College was cancelled due to COVID-19. Instead of performing at the College's Chapel this year, we will be premiering our hard work right here on this page:

The theme of our concert is “Be The Change.” This comes from one of the pieces the children’s choir will perform, composed by Troy Robertson and arranged by our very own students! With so much turmoil in our world, we thought it best to explore with our singers various ways we can affect change. With that in mind, each piece we prepared explored legacies of important change agents in history like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lewis, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Nina Simone, and Sam Cooke, to name just a few. We have also been discussing in rehearsals how we can "be the change [we] wish to see in the world": in our families, schools, communities, and beyond. During our concert you will not only hear beautiful music, but you will also hear from our students about the meaning behind the songs.
