Mark Engelhart received his Gettysburg College degree in Biology in 1979; in his career since, he has leveraged the core concepts and principles associated with his education in biology to foster both his career and his outside interests. Mark has spent over 35 years in the biopharmaceutical and contract research industries, in a variety of disciplines across the drug development spectrum. His career has included senior and C-level executive roles in the commercial, product development, operations, general management, and quality assurance areas. During his presentation, Mark will describe the pathways for drug and vaccine development from the pre-clinical stages through clinical trials and product introduction, share his personal experiences, and provide insight into specific roles and opportunities bolstered by a background in Biology. As an added bonus, Mark will share some photos and experiences of his over 20 years as a Scuba Diving Instructor, including sharks, sea turtles, whales, dolphins, and shipwrecks; this passion is also inspired by his background in the life sciences.
